Joel Lorentzen, President and CEO
"I had the good fortune to consider a new position at Genesis after a five-year absence. During my interview, I shook hands with many old friends and met many new faces; and those interactions left me with a feeling of destiny - I knew I wanted this job. That was a really unique feeling, because unlike someone totally new to the company, I knew from experience just how capable everybody I was meeting really was. I appreciated how complex their jobs were and how well they truly did them.
I could tell by looking at the finish quality of the machinery they were building; and even more telling - by the quality of the parts that those machines were making. I could tell by looking at the level of technology that was being used on the machinery - machine vision; off-line programming; interactive motion between two robots; and welding technologies that I'd never head of. I could tell by the breadth and organization of the work areas - tooling; weld validation; panel assembly; design; materials management; and simulation services. And it occurred to me that under one roof, Genesis has assembled the most unique collection of assets and talent to serve the needs of robotic welding than any other place on the planet. And everyone that I meet is just matter-of-fact about it. That's just the way they (and now I can say "we") are used to doing things.
Years ago our founder Rich Litt taught me an important lesson about hiring; and it was this: You can consider any of a person's education, industry experience, personality profile, military record, upbringing or other characteristics when you consider hiring them - but what you really want is smart, curious people who work hard. It is obvious to me that mantra has continued. I'm happy to be back."
Crystal Laird, Staff Accountant
"Why I came back to Genesis... When I first moved to this area, Genesis Systems Group was the first company that I worked for. I began as a temporary employee expecting to only work a couple of months but knew right from the start that this was where I wanted to work. I had a met a great group of people and had a supervisor who was willing to teach me additional aspects of accounting I did not know.
After leaving the company for a short time to another assignment, I received an unexpected call in February of 2008. Genesis had an opening, my old job, and wanted to know if I was interested in coming back. I was thrilled to be called and once again knew this was the company I wanted to work for and come back to a company that had great employees, a user friendly system, and many opportunities to learn so much more in-depth manufacturing practices. I was able to. I believe Genesis is a good company with great benefits and I am happy to be counted as a Genesis employee."
Eric Houy, Technician
"When I first came to Genesis Systems Group, I was more intrigued by the products manufactured. Robotics and welding, two of my biggest interests, rolled into one. Once accepting a position as a Manufacturing Technician, I saw how relaxed the atmosphere was and how broad every employee's expertise stretched.
There are plenty of reasons that I continuously come ready to work hard and be proud of my role in the company. I enjoy the gratification of a job well done, with myself and from fellow employees. I am always learning something new every day and with how much customizing there is mixed with product improvements, I know I will never run short on learning in the future.
Flexibility, in my opinion, is one of the company's strongest points. Flexible with adhering to a customer's needs, flexible with changes through every phase of a project, and flexible with employee's schedules for family, further education, and most major events.
Overall, Genesis Systems Group has been very inviting, encouraging, and flexible in every way. All employees are treated with a level respect that I have not seen with any other company. (And that Billy Cater guy is one heck of a character)"
Mike Gibbons, Technician
"I have been with Genesis Systems Group for about 9 months. It is a fun and challenging work environment with many opportunities.
Genesis Systems can offer some things many companies can't like flexible start times, training, and a chance to travel. For me, Genesis is a smart career choice. Think about it."
