Advanced Engineering

Ensuring Your Automation Success

Do you want to be sure your process is going to deliver the results you want? Genesis’ state of the art simulation facility will help conquer your project goals.

Automation fits some parts and processes perfectly. It doesn’t work for every process. That’s why simulation and offline programming play such an important role in ensuring that adoption of robotic automation delivers all you want it to.

Here are some of the robotic automation issues we use simulation to identify.

  • Robotic reach issues
  • Robot size requirements
  • Equipment positioning
  • Weld torch configuration and access requirements
  • Weld paths and torch types
  • Fixture clearances
  • Transporter requirements for moving a robot

We then use this information to finalize the programming of your systems and workcells while your system is being built. Calibration tools ensure that the Offline Programming is as close as possible to your real-world needs so your automated welding system can be deployed rapidly.

Our Advanced Engineering Tools Include:

Demo Lab –Our demo lab ensures our systems meet your on-the-floor needs. From robotic welding and cutting demonstrations to vision and programming trials specific to your application, our demo lab is an important part of research and development (R&D).

Demos, Testing and Training on Multiple Controls Platforms

You want to be sure your investment delivers its maximum benefit. That’s why we built our Controls Lab.

Considering a new product? The lab helps us evaluate new product together.

Need to evaluate your part before you purchase? The Controls lab lets us evaluate your part prior to sale. We can use actual parts or pictures.

Having problems with your robot controls? The lab provides diagnostic tools so we can load your controls onto our equipment in the lab and help you determine what the problem is. This saves you money when you are using a system that is no longer in warranty, because you don’t have to pay our service department for making a field call.

Do you want to ensure your systems aren’t at risk of causing downtime disruptions? The Controls Lab works with the IntelligenceCenter™ to keep your controls working at maximum efficiency. We offer multiple sensors for both demos and diagnostic services.

System and Tooling Controls Demos, Testing and Training

We offer demos on FANUC 2D and 3D vision, and Cognex Vision applications. Training is also available either with an instructor or as self-directed.

Standard Choices in Robot Controls

Robot Controls – Learn more about Robot-based Master System Controls with its system safety devices, power distribution and control enclosures. This is the robot control system that comes with all manufacturers robots by default.

PLC (CompactLogix) Controls – Learn more about how Genesis integrates Allen Bradley’s Compact Logix system master control into its system of safety features, control enclosures and different load station options.

Plug-N-Play Controls – Learn more about using Genesis Plug-N-Play Controls to control your modularized positioner operations.

We can also work with customer specified robot controls.

Controls Lab – Our Controls Lab has the capability to evaluate new products, do controls and vision demonstrations, testing, & training on multiple platforms.  Our lab hooks directly to the Genesis IntelligenceCenterTM to diagnose your down robot and trouble shoot your issue.

Dimensional Engineering – This advanced engineering tool ensures consistency in parts fit, enabling faster production times without loss of quality.

Measuring Your Arc-welding Fixtures

Do you want the highest possible product quality while meeting your need to deliver quality products, on time and within your budget? Genesis dimensional engineering assures you that your part robotic system will be able to meet these demands.

A key component of dimensional engineering is the ability to manage variation within the production environment. Variations can occur at any location, but certain conditions can result in poor part fit-up, reduced thru-put and ultimately slower production times.

While robots can be much more efficient at decreasing variation than their human counterparts, they still need to be configured to ensure that weld joint locations and conditions are tightly controlled. Dimensional engineering enables weld joint design and process configuration that brings variations into strict parameters.

Dimensional Engineering:

  • Identifies where variation is most likely to occur within your part processes.
  • Detect where variations exist using Variation Simulation Analysis to pinpoint your dimensional “hotspots.”
  • Minimizes variations by optimizing your product and process.
  • Accommodates unavoidable variations by using process techniques such as smart Fixturing, touch sensing, thru arc-seam tracking and/or weave welding.

Ensure automating your arc-welding delivers all the benefits it should.
